Drs. Ed de Schoolmeester is working as a lecturer at Institute Archimedes / Department of Geography. Institute Archimedes is part of the Faculty of Education, one of the largest teacher training institutes in the Netherlands with approximately 4500 students. The faculty is part of the Hogeschool Utrecht, a large university of applied sciences.

Ed de Schoolmeester is specialized in geography of  developing countries. The Philippines has his special interest.

Why a website about the Philippines?

The Philippines is a good example of a developing country in Asia and  offers students a lot of information about themes, which are typical for an Asian 'developing country'. Moreover,  South East Asia is attractive to explore  because of its colourful people and splendid nature. The Philippines has all these ingredients! In the coming 40 years the Philippines will show one of the ten fastest growing figures in the world, so, time to discover this interesting country ( Utrecht, 04 February 2012)!
